I absolutely LOVE chunky blankets!! I like to hand knit chunky blankets using Chenille yarn because it’s super soft and comfy. Its especially warm and cozy for the colder winter months.
My daughter recently asked me to knit her a pink and green blanket for Christmas so of course I had to deliver. I will be giving her this pretty, soft, and comfy blanket on Christmas morning in addition to all of her toys.
This blanket only takes 2 to 3 hours to hand knit which is even better because with the holidays approaching quickly, I don’t have a lot of time to spare.
If you’re interested in learning how to knit this blanket please read the instructions and materials below. I will be posting a video shortly so if you prefer video tutorials please subscribe to my YouTube channel “Kay Pittman Knits”. I will provide a link below to my channel.
6 bundles of Chenille yarn
Create a slip knot
Pull yarn through the slip knot to make another small loop. This is considered casting on stitches.
Cast on a total of 28 stitches (loops) in all by pulling yarn through each loop to make new loops.
When you get to the 28th stitch pull that loop down to the 2nd row and work your way back across to the other side until you get to the 28th stitch.
Start a new row everytime you get to the 28th loop or stitch working back across for each row.
When you run out of yarn sew the tail of the first ball to the tail of the new ball and continue to work the yarn the same way.
When your blanket is as long as you want it to be you will need to bind off.
You can cut off any leftover tails or sew them down.
Then you are DONE!
